Client Brief

AuctionNinja offers easy-to-use software for estate sale companies and auctioneers to manage online auctions and inventory. It also serves as a marketplace where sellers can list items and buyers can bid or purchase. The client approached us to improve their website’s image upload process, which was slow, limited, and causing user issues.

Our Endeavor

The client asked us to improve the image upload process on their website. Their existing system only allowed a few image types like JPEG and PNG, and had a low image upload limit. It failed to filter out damaged or unsupported images and became slow when multiple sellers uploaded images at the same time. These problems were causing delays, user complaints, and affecting the overall performance of the platform.

Our team carefully reviewed the current system and built an image upload module from scratch using Node.js and PHP on their website. We increased the upload limit to 50 images at once, improved speed, and added support for additional image formats like HEIF, HEIC, APNG, AVIF, GIF, SVG+XML, and WebP. We also made sure the system could handle high traffic without slowing down.

One of the main challenges was handling HEIF and HEIC image formats, which are not supported by many platforms. To solve this, our team used a third-party Node.js package to automatically convert these images into JPG format so they could be uploaded easily.

As a result, sellers can now upload more images in one go, and the system filters out unsupported or broken files automatically. This has helped reduce errors, improve seller productivity, and keep the platform stable even during peak usage. The client now has a faster and more reliable upload process that supports both sellers and buyers more effectively.
