Development of An Android Based Event Notification App

Client Brief

The client approached SynapseIndia to develop an SMS based event invitation application. The abilities that the client intended to have in the app includes: a user should be able to send SMS invitation of any event to the people from his contact book and able to see the responses properly. A user should be able to export the responses as a report and share via e-mail. There should be a licensing mechanism so that user can use the application on a subscription basis.

Our Endeavor

Following the previous EO application, we have developed, the latest one. Using this app, users can send SMS invitation of any event to multiple people from their phone’s contact book. The app proffers a tab based listing screen where users can see the responses in a categorized way. Users can export the responses in CSV format as a report and share with others via email. There is a licensing mechanism to provide this service on a subscription basis to the users. At the first time, a user needs to send an activation request to the admin. As soon as the admin receives one such mail, he/she can create an account for the user. An automated mail will be sent to the user containing the user-name and password that will be required to login to the application.

The flow of the app…

• The application displays a splash screen for some seconds then jump to the login screen with pop up to activate the application. Activation request will send via email to the pre-defined admin email-id. Admin will register and send the credentials to the user. The user will be able to login and use the application till the validity of the subscription period. The default validity period is 7 days before the expiration of subscription user will be alerted by email and pop to reactivate his account. If the subscription period is valid then a user can login and land to the home page after the successful login.
• The home screen comes with options to send the message to the people in the phone book contacts by selecting from a custom list, and the SMS’s will be sent in the background only.
• Users will receive the reply of the sent SMS in the background and the SMS data will be written to the file so that user can view the replies later. SMS replies will be shown in the form of a list on the home screen.
• Users will be able to select the contacts from their phone’s phone book and will be able to send the SMS in the back ground.
