Development of a PHP Based Marketplace for Home Furnishing Products

Client Brief

The client came to us with a requirement to design and develop an online marketplace for home renovation goods. The website was meant to be contrived for three user types viz. Home Owners, Commercial Representatives, and Contractors/vendors.

Our Endeavor

RenoTalk.com is a renovation and lifestyle portal dealing in an array of home furnishing stuff. On the design front, the main theme was kept in a bluish shade matching the color of the logo. The home page contains an assortment of products the client deals in, as well as a smooth navigation to other internal pages. Once the PSDs were approved, we have converted them into HTML and shared with the development team for further development work.

The website allows the homeowners to submit their requirements to get a quote via email or invite contractors/vendors to bid on the requirement. The other section of the website includes pages like Product Marketplace, Directory Listing, Interior Design Gallery Get Quotes, Articles module, Deals Section etc.

To achieve the requirements and expectations of this project, we have used the CodeIgniter framework with Ajax and jQuery technologies. We have created membership module as well as roles modules from where the admin of the site can set the parameters and specifications for each membership pattern and roles for the users. Registered users can also purchase addons to extend the services of their membership like extend the limit of upload images, extend the number of bids etc.

We have also created a bidding system from where the Homeowners and Commercial Representative can get quotes from the contractors/vendors and communicate through email or a message board system. Contractors/vendors are also enabled to add their portfolio in design or video gallery according to the membership they have opted for. The marketplace section allows the contractors/vendors to upload products. The deals sections managed by admin is used in promoting the products and services of the website.
