Website for Hispanic Community Services 'La Familia' Using PHP

Client Brief

Lafamilianet.net is a website meant to be a one-stop resource pool for the hispanic community of America apart from being a tool to highlight the achievements of its people. We were hired to re-design and develop the website from the scratch. Among a plethora of services to be offered by the website, hispanic role models (using video /audio /images), posting and viewing of events, articles, news, downloads and the development of a discussion forum & opinion poll are the important ones. Many of these sections apart from others were to be managed/ moderated by the administrator of the website. For a more active participation and contribution from the visitors, the site was to offer a registered member area.

Our Endeavor

Working upon some basic inputs from the client, we imparted a pleasing and structured look to the website highlighting the events, news and articles section with an easy to follow navigation throughout the site. The website is divided into two parts : the user area and the administrator area. The users can browse through the articles, events, news items or the downloads listed in the website. The registered members can also post their own resources into the website routed through the admin. There is a extensive section on the web site called hispanic role models under which user can find a large database of role models from hispanic community. This important section of the website makes use of video & audio media files, favorites, biography and images of the role models. The users can also vote on various issues using the opinion poll section. Through a comprehensive administrator section built into the website, most major areas of the website can be managed. The news, events, articles, downloads, opinion poll and image management are to name a few. The development platform for the website is PHP with MySQL database.
