Travel Website in PHP for 'Java Giraffe' - Coffee Shop Directory

Client Brief

The client's main requirement was to have a website designed and developed where users can search for business listings by selecting any particular location or category. Further, they can rate and review the listings. Business users would be able to register with the website, create and manage their profile, listings, view the ratings and reviews from the customers. Business user would also be able to make payment and have their posting as a featured listing. Customers and business users can send and receive messages within the website using an internal messaging system.

Our Endeavor

Java Giraffe was the brainchild of busy professionals whose days greatly depend on having a satisfying cup of coffee to get off on the right foot.

Giving it colors was fun:

While designing it, we wanted to give a very specific design feel to the website. For the homepage, we wanted a whimsical, creative, simple, sophisticated and modern design. No wonder we have successfully achieved what we intended. Our designers used warm and vibrant colors that reflect the sense of coffee and the color of giraffe. So in combination the website is a lot brown, a bit beige, with a hint of orange and dark green.

Shaping It:

We have developed the website in PHP and MySQL 5. The Front end of the website is having search feature for local businesses based on the zip code and supplied and miles. Users can view the complete details of any business user on their respective profile page. However, only registered members can view or post rating or add the business user to their favorite listing as well as can send them message.

Using It:

Apart from this business users can register with the website, create and manage their profile, listings, view the ratings and reviews from the customers. They can make payment and have their posting in the featured listing. Customers and business users can send and receive messages within the website using an internal messaging system. Additionally, third party WordPress blog integration and forum PHPBB for blog and forum functionality have been facilitated in the website.

Managing It:

The admin section of the website is having the feature of creating, editing, viewing and deleting customers and business users. Add on feature of uploading business users’ information in bulk has also been facilitated. Additionally, the admin can reject, delete or approve the reviews posted by the registered member for business users. Admin can also manage the proximity search results as well as the static content of the site.

Achieving It:

The complicated part of the project was searching different business user listings on basis of zip code and miles and displaying the result in the Google map along with icon and for that we have used the zip code database of the world. Also the client was very nice and supportive as well her regular feedback help us to complete the project in time and as per the requirement.
